    A Message from Coach Katie

    Hey all you Bullfrogs:

First we’d like to welcome back our returning families and welcome all new families to the team!! For me personally, it’s been so amazing to see the growth in your children since last year and to see new faces eager to learn! With these images in mind, I can say without a doubt that it’s going to be a great summer! J

For many reasons, we have been unable to hold a “team meeting” up to this point. As we enter into our 3rd week of swim team, I wanted to take a minute to send a note to share/clarify with you all how the team is organized and the responsibilities behind each role. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read. We will answer any questions at time trials

Additionally, this email is to serve as an announcement that the Coaches and I will kick-off the Time Trials with a team meeting - Please join your children during their appointed time trial date at 5pm for our meeting:

    • Wednesday up to 10 yrs
    • Thursday 11+

*Please also note the “Lily Pad” will be open, serving drinks, snacks, and pizza for time trials. Please plan to support your team and simplify your life by enjoying snacks and dinner poolside. If you or your child has any special dietary restrictions, please share with Melanie Marks @ [email protected], and she will do her best to accommodate.

As it relates to the swim team, I especially want to clarify my role. As many of you may know, I served as Head Coach last year. I loved being the Bullfrog’s Coach – and I enjoy working with your children so very much. This year, due to increased responsibilities at work and my commitment to my family, I could not maintain the full workload of Head Coach.

I hope you all know, I am devoted to your swimmers, to the Bullfrog team and its success. Wendy and I worked out a plan last month. I would be a “Co-Head Coach” with Madison Demetry. Wendy and I felt given my experience from last year, I could help ease transition and the workload on all volunteers involved – as well as support Madison’s success in any way possible. This also provides me with an opportunity to do the work I love to do as often as I possibly can – work with your cool kids and help enable them to become better swimmers. I am honored to remain a part of the team.

I do want to clarify that I am doing this as 100% volunteer role. The only reason I point this out is to clarify any questions on my commitment. I will always do the best I can to support the team and continue to be present as often as possible.

    Bullfrog team management:

    Team “Mom”: Wendy Clyne (Volunteer)

Wendy is responsible for the overall coordination of practice and schedules, registration, and on-going communication with the team. Wendy is a mother of 2 children (both on the team) and works full-time as an elementary school teacher. Wendy commits a tremendous amount of time and energy to our team and we should all thank her for her generosity and kind spirit.

    Head Coach: Madison Demetry

Madison has been a Bullfrog for many years, is a lifeguard at the JCC, and a tremendous swimmer. She just completed her Freshman year at UGA. She will be responsible for managing practices, planning workouts, supporting me in line-up creation, and ensuring the swimmers are learning technique and building endurance, speed, and execution.

Assistant Coaches: Savannah Daley and Haley Shaw

Savannah and Haley are responsible for the execution of the workouts and swim meets (kids in right place at right time, etc). Savannah just graduated from DHS and is going to The Citadel. Haley is going into her sophomore year of High school. They will both be swimming on the team as well.

They are various other, critical volunteers like Tracey McIntosh,  and Melanie Marks that ensure the success of our team. I will discuss these roles with you all in more detail on Wednesday and Thursday. If there is something you feel we as a team can do better, please let us know. We also need people to raise their hands and volunteer to help.

Parents: You are a critical success factor. In addition to brining your children to practice on time and every day, we need your support and positive attitude at practices and meets. It is expected you will volunteer at each meet your child swims.

Swimmers: Come to practice on time and ready to go – bring goggles, pony-tail holders, and SWIM CAPS. Listen to coaches and do the hard work – it will pay off.

    Let’s have a great summer!!!!!!!!

    Gooooooo Bullfrogs!!

    Best, Katie
