2015 Deerbrookewaters Swim Season
Hello Bullfrog Families!
As I write this, I am looking out onto a cold, wet winter day. However, swim season is just around the corner. I’m sure you’ve all received the email from ASA about signing up with them. The earlier you do it, the better it is for everyone. We must have all swimmers registered with ASA by the first swim meet to avoid a possible forfeit of the meet. In addition, after April 1, the ASA starts to go up incrementally. Our team registration will open, online, as soon as we can get that set up. I will send another email letting you know when that is ready. I am including some information about the upcoming season below.
*Madison Demetry will be our head coach – she will be looking for 2 assistant coaches and a junior coach
*Amanda Hensley will be taking over the computer aspect of the team meets.
*Melanie Marks will be heading up the concessions, but will need more help as she has gone back to work
* Personally, I am asking for some of you moms and dads to really dig down deep and see where you can assist me in the following areas:
-Spring swim suit fitting/parent meeting (to be done in April)
-After meet spirit nights (coordinating, notifying team, collecting proceeds)
-Getting team sponsors
-Being at practices in May to answer questions/collect questions from parents, collect dues, ensure coaches are there (this is difficult for me to get to from my school in Atlanta), etc….
-Coordinating volunteers (this would need to be done every week starting with the first meet at the end of May)
-Preparing for ribbons and games nights
I am asking for this help because this is a really big job. I had originally signed on to manage the team for two seasons. This upcoming season would be my third. I will need to pass the torch to someone else at the end of the 2015 season. In the meantime, though, I need parents to help me out. May is an especially busy month for us all. It’s particularly busy for teachers. I’ve found it difficult to do a really good job at managing the team and keeping up with my responsibilities at work (oh yeah, and at home). I can appreciate the idea that you don’t feel you have time to help out, or that if one more person asks you to volunteer your time you’re just going to scream. However, as the saying goes, many hands make light work. Please truly consider helping out the team, this year.
Sincerely,
Wendy Clyne
