Important Info. and practice schedule for 2015 Season
Hello, Bullfrogs!
We are excited about the start of another swim season! We've got lots of information to share with you so please read it all and save this email for future reference. We will try not to overload your inbox this busy time of year but want to keep everyone informed. Email is our main form of communication (texts also for last-minute changes, once practice starts), and most emails will also be posted to the web site (this one definitely will be).
Registration/Fees/RSVPs - Your child cannot not swim in the first meet unless they are registered w/DBW AND w/ASA. The meet lineup is created the weekend before so we ask that you please get your kids registered ASAP and please RSVP for each meet before noon on Saturday. DBW team fees are $110/80/40/30 for 1st/2nd/3rd/4th child. ASA league fees are now $27.50 (plus convenience fee you pay online - I think it is $1.50-$2). ASA Fees will increase on June 1 to $32.50.
As of 4/27, we have 28 swimmers registered and ~30 pending (swimmers from 2014 who are still eligible but not yet registered). We think most everyone will be returning (yea!) and we already have a few new families registered (awesome! spread the word to neighbors and friends). If you know your child's schedule for the summer, please go ahead and RSVP for each meet and just get it out of the way. You can always change your RSVP later if plans change. The team computer person's job is SO MUCH easier if everyone gets registered before the week of time trials (see below)!!!
Pre-season Practice - starts Monday, 5/11!! Details on location are being finalized and will be communicated soon but the dates and times are:
M-Th, 4:30-5:00 6&Under, 5:15-6:00 7-10, 6:00-6:45 11&Up, ending 5/21.
Meet Schedule - is posted on the web site (click the calendar link at top). First meet is May 26, last one is June 23. Home meets are 6/2 and 6/23.
Season Practice - begins Tue. 5/26 (the morning of our first meet - no practice Memorial Day). Details on location are being finalized and will be communicated soon but the dates and times are:
M/W: 5:00-5:30 6&Under, 5:30-6:15 7-10, 6:15-7:15 11&Up
Tu: 8:00-8:30 7-10, 8:30-9:00 11&Up, 9:00-9:30 6&Under (NOTE: 7-10 go first and youngest go last for morning practice and 30 min. practice for everyone on Tue. only)
Fri: 8:00-8:45 7-10, 8:45-9:30 11&Up, 9:30-10:00 6&Under
These practices will most likely be split between the Brooke Farm and Waterford Pools. We know many of our swimmers will still be in school the first two weeks of the season and unable to attend morning practice. Come when you can! Last scheduled practice is Tue. 6/23.
Games & Ribbons/Team Pictures: G&R will again be on Thursdays this year, 5:00-6:00pm at the Waterford pool. We are tentatively scheduled to take our team picture at the first G&R, 5/28, so please mark your calendar and make every effort to attend!
Team Swim Suits - If you ordered one on Saturday they will be delivered to Amanda's house. She will have them at the first two preseason practices or you can arrange to get it from her at another time. Remember, a team swim suit is not required and kids can certainly wear team suits from prior years. We've always been very relaxed about this.
Time Trials - Traditionally we hold a "Mock Meet" or Time Trial the last week of pre-season practice, to get as many times as we can and also for parents to practice their volunteer roles. This year Time Trials will again be split over two nights, Tue. 5/19 for 10&Under and Wed. 5/20 for 11&Up. Kids who are not doing time trials will still have their regular practice that night. More details to follow, please mark your calendars.
Team Management - Wendy got us off to a great start this year (THANK YOU, Wendy!!) but needs to step down as manager after two years. She is focused on closing out a busy school year and providing support to her family. Her father-in-law, Ron Clyne, who lives in Waterford, was seriously injured in late March and is currently in rehabilitation at Shepard Spinal Center. I know Ron, Wendy and their entire family will be in our thoughts and prayers. Amanda Hensley will step up to the role of Team Manager and will need lots of support as she is also (currently) in charge of the web site and computer.
Volunteer Opportunities - THANK YOU to those who have already stepped in to help. It is GREATLY appreciated
. We still need the following positions filled. Please call or email Amanda if you have questions about what any of these entail. If you handled any of these in the past, please let me know so we can contact you for more information.
