DBW Swim Team: Concessions $$ Needed | Pictures Are In | 6/8 Meet Day Schedule Reminders
Concessions donations – We are asking all families to please Venmo $5-10 to @Kendall-Crye, if you haven’t already. We don’t need any food/supply donations because we got so many last week! Instead, we are asking for contribution to help offset the cost of food purchases (including CFA sandwiches).
Pictures are in! If you can’t pick them up at practice Monday, reach out to Katie Ackerman 770-312-4826. Don’t forget to wear your buttons to the meet!
New start blocks – Special thanks to Adam Newton and Alberto Gomez for refurbishing the platforms on our start blocks. They look great and are safer/more comfortable for the kids! #BullfrogDadsRock
Swim Meet Reminders – As summer camps are gearing up and swimmers may need to arrive late to swim meets, please note the following, in regards to our meet night schedule (this info is also listed on the web site under Swim Meet Policies):
Text Coach Jane if/when you know your swimmer(s) will be arriving after 4:30pm. If we don’t know they are arriving late, it’s possible they will be scratched from events or others will be substituted for them. We will also need to arrange for their events to be written on their arm – either prior to them arriving or just before the meet starts. Changes to the lineup cannot be made after 5pm so it’s important that we know each swimmer’s status well before then.
Pre-meet schedule starts promptly at 4:30 – Swimmers should check in with a coach upon arrival – this is how we determine if changes need to be made. The ASA rule is that home team warms up first at 4:30, visiting team at 4:50 (each team must be allotted a 20min warmup session). For home meets we warm up first then get events on arms. At Away meets, we try to get arms written first, then warmup. That’s why it’s important for swimmers to arrive by 4:30, when possible. Also, for a meet to start on time, we need to get our younger relay teams lined up starting at 5:20. This usually happens right before or after the pre-meet gathering where we do the team chant and get final comments from the coaches.
Meet start time is always 5:30pm. When a meet is started on time, both teams are relatively small, and assuming no weather delays, the meet will end no later 8:30pm (last week was an exception and should not happen again). Typically, the second half of the meet begins around 7pm-ish. This is when we switch volunteers (at event 43 out of 86 total).
Post-meet celebration – Join us at Yogil Mogli after each meet! Get a receipt for your purchase and drop it in the Bullfrog jar to help our team earn 15% of sales. YM is in the Orchard Park Kroger shopping center.
Swimtopia App – Get the app on your phone to see what’s coming up. The app will show if your swimmers have been declared for each meet, what events they are swimming (once the lineup is set Monday afternoon, sometimes earlier), and what you have signed up for.
Let’s have a great last home meet this Tuesday! GO BULLFROGS!!!
Amanda
