DBW Swim Team: Home Meet Tue. 5/25 | Team Pictures | Please RSVP!

    Hello, team!

Our first meet is next week! It is a virtual home meet against Redfield. Each team will swim at their own pool at approx. the same time, exchange results, then plan to have the meet finalized by Thu am.

Please note these important reminders for our first meet on Tue. 5/25:

RSVP by deadline of Fri 12pm – Please, please get rsvps in on time! Click on the “Meet Entry” button beside the swim meet on the web site (under the Swim Meets tab). The coaches MUST know who will be swimming before they set the lineup, which they start working on Friday afternoon and is due Monday afternoon. We need you to RSVP even if your child is not swimming. All swimmers are “undeclared” until that status is changed via the Meet Entry button. Please RSVP for all of them at once if you can! This helps us greatly in planning for meets.

Swimmers arrive 4:30 (earlier if you are taking pics) – This is our normal arrival time for a 5:30 swim meet start. Swimmers need to check in, get their events listed on their arm (or leg, their preference) and warm-ups start at 4:50.

Team Picture at 4:45, Individual pics start at 4pm – Along with the normal pre-meet activities, we will be taking individual and team pictures. Individual/family pics start at 4pm and we hope to be moving on to the team pic by 4:45. If you can’t make it by then, please contact Katie Ackerman. We have some flexibility in starting the meet since it is virtual, and would rather start a little later if that means getting everyone in the team pic.

Picture Order Form – Is available on the web site and attached to this email. It is recommended that you print and fill it out ahead of time to move things along on picture day. All forms of payment are accepted, photo items start at $15.

VolunteersWe have 14 of 27 slots filled so far. Please signup for a shift when you RSVP for your swimmer(s). We can’t run a meet without parent volunteers!

Lastly, thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to adapt to the needs of our growing team.  We will have some junior coaches start helping out at practice next week (yay!), providing more hands-on help for those that need it.  We are already seeing so much improvement after only a few days in the water!  We know it is a hectic time of year and we appreciate you getting your kids to the pool during the busy month of May (and during the dinner prep hour)!

We will try to get times for everyone this week but no worries if we don’t. We mainly want those kids who will be swimming on Tuesday to feel ready. If some are not ready this week, that’s OK! We will keep helping them work towards their individual goal(s), whatever that is for each swimmer.

    Thank you!

    Amanda
