    DBW Swim Team - Input requested on meet format; Registration deadline extended to 5/1;

    Hello!

    We don’t mean to flood your inbox, but much is changing as we continue to deal with the uncertainty of COVID and it's impact on the swim season. We know how busy spring is and that families (teams too!) are anxious to get summer calendars set. We are requesting your input on meet format by Thu 4/8 (details below) for a survey ASA just published.

    Also, once you are registered, check the web site first if you have questions – updates will be made there before an email is sent and only registered members can see all the details, including practice schedules. The teams and ASA understand that some families cannot register until more details are known, hence the extension on late fees.

    When appropriate, we will send pre-season text reminders instead of email.  To join, text @dbws to 81010.  You can opt out at any time.  We typically use this for weather alerts that affect practice.

    ASA Updates 4/1:

    Meet format survey – Please respond to Amanda by Thu 4/8 if you have a strong opinion, [email protected]. We will respond as a team. Several options are being offered.  See comments below signature line on survey questions. We feel that in-person meets will be a better experience for the kids. However, we’ve thought of doing the first meet virtual because of school. We can start virtual then move to in-person when we’re ready (meet 2 or 3). Our response is not binding but they do want to get an idea of where teams stand as they need to match teams for the master schedule.  Please share your thoughts/concerns. Note that the dates of the meets WILL NOT change, except *maybe* the first (next paragraph). We just don’t yet know the location, opponent or format of the meets.  Also our practice schedule is set.

    First meet during school - ASA is asking if teams need to re-schedule the first meet due to school. We suggest to leave it as is (re-scheduling could present even more challenges), and make it a virtual meet if school schedules are a problem. Re-scheduling would mean 2 meets in one week, and that can be hectic. An advantage to virtual meets is that we can get times for the kids at any point during the practice week. We could also treat this first meet on 5/25 as our traditional Time Trials meet, which has always been the last week of school (for most).

    Meet schedule – should be published by 4/24.  Lots of work to do based on survey responses.

    Thanks for being flexible. We hope to see you all on Sunday, 4/25! Stay tuned.

    Go Bullfrogs! Boo COVID :(
